Photo Friday: Mill Valley Film Festival (the Celebrity Edition)

Let’s forget about travel for a brief sec and talk about all the celebrities I’ve interviewed in the past week or so, shall we?

First, there was him:

Oh, yummy, delicious, can’t-get-enough-of-ya Clive Owen. He was absolutely brilliant and kind and funny, like you’d hope someone of his looks—erm, intelligence—was.  His movie, The Boys are Back, was quite endearing, as well.

Then, there was her.

Gabby Sidibe. Don’t know her? Ah, well, then it’s just a matter of time. She’s already garnered Oscar buzz for Precious, which has yet to open, and it’s her first. Acting. Role. EVER. Chew on that one for a bit.

(If you want to see her and Clive on camera, check out my interview here.)

Her co-star Paula Patton is my new number one girl crush. Or rather, I’d like to be part of her entourage for a short while, she’s just that cool and bad ass. Not to mention, smokin’!

I skipped over Jason Reitman and Clooney’s Up in the Air—no Clooney wasn’t there; I’m not that close to insanity—to save up for Woody Harrelson and his withering glare. That’s right, he breezed past me entirely and wouldn’t give me the time of day. Typical, from what my celeb reporter friends tell me. But his new movie The Messenger was pretty darn good regardless.

Though, if you truly want a cause to hate him, here’s a snippet of his onstage interview, proof that he’s not ever—nor will he be—over his 13-year-old catfight with Gloria Steinhem.

“I was dining in NYC with Paul McCartney, and Gloria Steinem came up to the table to say hi to Paul. She turned to me and I wouldn’t shake her hand.

“‘Gloria,’ I said and she said ‘Steinem.’ I said ‘I don’t care. I have no respect for you.’

“I have no respect for the woman—for many reasons. She was paid to go state to state, by whom I don’t know, to say bad things about the movie (Larry Flynt). And it worked; the movie tanked.”

Then, he received the big festival award for his contribution to film. He picked up the statue and remarked, “no head? No genitalia? Niiice.”

You keep it classy, Woody.

And then there was the icing on the cake, the cherry on top. Not only was Emily Blunt a late addition to the game, to close out the film fest with The Young Victoria

(I wanted her dress in a baaaad way.)

(Not to mention, her hair, accent, talent, etc. etc. etc. We do share one thing, which we talked about, natch: Being born on the exact same day! Oh, and being recently engaged, too.)

but she arrived with this guy on her arm. How jealous are we all?!?

And just one more for good measure.

(Yes, John Krasinski, I only have eyes for you, too. Err, and SVV, of course!)

OK, I lied—and this, which will surely make you melt.

And here’s her ice if you enlarge the picture and look really closely.

Yeah, it wasn’t bad to be me for a short while, that’s for sure. Aside from the fact, that this is the one I get to take home with me at the end of the night, and in my opinion, he’s the best-looking of them all.

(He’s not stoned, just contemplative. And enjoying the San Francisco skyline from the luxe Hornblower ship after-party.)
